Saginaw Bay CISMA has received funding through the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service and the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative to provide a strike team for invasive species control in the CISMA boundaries. Strike Team activities will begin in summer of 2022, and focus on controlling infestations of Phragmites, Japanese Knotweed and European frog-bit in priority locations throughout Arenac, Bay, Huron, Saginaw, Sanilac and Tuscola counties. We are working with partnering conservation districts, county road commissions and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe to provide the best invasive species control we can for residents in Saginaw Bay.
If you are interested in scheduling strike team activities, please fill out the landowner survey request form at Landowner Surveys. Landowners agree to remove treated Phragmites and Japanese knotweed no sooner than six weeks after treatment and no later than the following growing season. Technical assistance will be provided upon request for landowners providing post-treatment management.
